Get Back Up Again

Recently in the news there was a story about a man named Adam Porter.  Mr Porter is a advid mountain climber and made big news after his climb to the summit of Sgurr Choinnich Mor, in Scotland.  Now his climb to the summit of the mountain was not  spectacular, at it’s height of 3,589 feet, but his decent was.  After reaching the summit Porter slipped on a patch of ice a dropped off the cliff over 1,000 feet.

Lt.  Tim Barker who was on the rescue helicopter was convinced that this would be a bad scene.  To the crews surprise, as they approach the base, Porter was standing with his map in hand.    Not only did he survive but he was getting ready to walk himself down the mountain.

In life we can go through trails that we think are going to kill us.  That there is no way we can live through the pain.  Right now you maybe falling, like Porter did off that mountain.  You might believe it is over.   One man, Job, understood this.  He had great pain come to his life but yet he holds on to God.  He lost everything, his house, his sons, everything he had was taken, yet he stayed true to God.  In Job 23:10, Job says, “But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.”

So my prayer is that when you fall down (hopefully not 1,000 feet) that you can get back up again, and be golden.
